Obama wraps up White House health care summit

Even if Obama don't get health care passed, I will still support him. One person can't make Congress do anything without help. People also fail to understand is that at least he tried. Clinton tried but couldn't get it done but Obama has a good shot. People need to give him credit for that at least. Do I agree with Obama on every thing? No. However, he one million percent better than the last President.

Harkins mentioned segregation in healthcare,how about segregation in healthcare in the VA Healthcare system placing veterans in 8 different classes for obtaining care,If you have served your country you should be entitled to the health care the government promised. 8 different classes of veterans is discriination,bar none!!!Just imagine segegation for veterans,what a injustice, it makes me sick to my stomach!

Total waste of time, nothing is going to change, those who have it will keep it, and, those who don't won't get it, the only two groups that will keep getting rich are the insurance companies and the GOP senators who are paid by them and are lobbyist for said companies while in office. Change will only happen when healthcare bankrupts the country when more retired folks are on Medicare and not enough young to pay for it, including those who claim not to know its a government run program.

What I see more then anything is the sever lack of respect the Republicans have for this President. They talk to this President as if he's beneath them. It serves as a base reason why blacks and whites don't get along. We African Americans are paying very close attention to how he's being treated and it will set a mark on how we will treat the next white or Republican President. This isn't be said as a treat but rather as a stance on overall relations.

Senator Coburn has had a good day and he appears to be the voice of reason here. We need to be "Better Spenders" when it comes to health care dollars. How much of the billions and trillions are wasted? How much is lost paying "Something for Nothing." President Obama is trying to force America to pay "Something for Nothing." We need to pay as little as possible when we are sick and to stop lining the pockets of insurance fat cats forcing us to pay like the MOB when we are healthy. Everybody will get sick someday so it's an expense we cannot avoid. Lower costs increases access to care. Stop the fraud, waste, and abuse. Be better spenders. Reject Obama's "Something for Nothing" proposal on a mandated insurance stimulus package that hurts the elderly and sick. I support Obama when he's right.

Now that he has this nonsense out of the way, the Dems can go on an pass the healthcare bill they want without continuing to suck up to the republicans for support. They are not going to get it. Never were and never will, so stop playing games with these rednecks and do the peoples' work.

So MICHAEL HOLLADAY thinks that Obama's health care plan will undermine MediCare!! If that is so, why is it that the AARP supports it? President Teddy Roosevelt attempted to get a national health care system enacted. Probably it was premature then, but it certainly is long overdue now.

It's amazing that the very people who are trying to decide the fate of Healthcare for all Americans are the same people that we are paying to insure that they have their butts covered by adequate and the best health care. Go Figure!!

The Healthcare debate we witnessed should be the "End." It should "End" the Democratic delay in getting a real bill passed. It should mark the "Beginning" of a period where both sides agree and pass something that bans discrimination and reduces costs with real competition. What about the 30 million uncovered? Lower costs and they will find a way to pay for care if and when they need it. Insurance is like a "Mobster demanding payment for nothing." Give us money now while you are healthy or we could break your legs. President Obama should be ashamed of his role in this debacle. Insurance and lower costs are in opposition. Insurance pays the bills so we don't really care what is charged. We've got to be better spenders. We must get what we pay for. Democrats were stupid demanding us pay "Something for Nothing." End the debate and begin to work for America.

i hope this health insurance reform scam being peddled by Obama is defeated. to FORCE someone making less than 20k per yr to pay a private insurance company $300 per mth with a $5000 deductible is NOT REFORM. would you want to be FORCED to pay over $8000 in premiums & deductibles before recieving ANY money from your insurer? REAL reform would allow the uninsured to buy into medicare or the federal TAX PAYER FUNDED insurance that i have that costs less than &200 per mth with a 300 deductible. as a black man, i'm proud of voting "write in" and not for corporate/aipac puppet Obama.

I am willing to listen to arguments like the one put forth by Joell. However, the ones who need convincing are the party of NO and spineless Democrats. All of the ideas of Joell were components of the health care bill at one time or another, before being removed to appease the party of NO and spineless Democrats. The current debate should be about whether or not the proposed health care bill is better than the health care we now have. The goal should be to produce the best health care bill possible, not a watered down version trying to appease everybody.
