Instead of the entourage of childhood friends sucking you dry, pardon the expression, HIRE YOURSELF SOME SECURITY........Dont put yourself in the hands of white men who already covet your God given physical ability. And are no doubt jealous of the wealth you amass. Please for the love of God stop carrying fire-arms, and leave that to trainned professionals....Our athletes need to check themselves "STOP BELIEVING THE LYRICS IN THE GANGSA RAP SONGS BRO".....This is your real life!!!!!!!

Do any of these "men" have any home training or common sense? If, he is packing heat illegally, put him in jail maybe then he will find a clue, one that so many of these guys don't seem to have.

Like the author wrote, it is sad, and it infuriates me. Where are the brains of some of these professional athletes? Giving up tens of millions of dollars from salaries and endorsements over foolishness is not very smart. Professional athletes are aware of the consequences of inappropriate behavior based on the experiences of other foolish athletes.

These stories are too easy for us to digest on face value so we get sucked into the emotional angle instead of looking deeper for the issues. Gilbert Arenas has issues and clearly this is stupid. Abe Polin just died to and every policy in the organization is under review. Why can't the NBA adopt a policy that collects the player's guns and insures those with them are in compliance with the law nationwide? The larger issue is security. The largest issue is Arenas. The team would love to void his contract for any reason it can find. The union would place anyone at risk if they just look the other way. Kobe Bryant owes the Union so much for keeping his career alive. This issue could divide the union and threaten the security of all celebrities. Arenas was stupid but will the reaction be worse?

How come shit like this never happens with NASCAR drivers, many of whom are avid hunters? Maybe it's because they know how to own and use weapons in a responsible and safe manner, whereas Arenas, Crittenton and Plaxico Burress don't. Although, in Burress' case, New York City's gun laws are the problem, along with its hoplophobic mayor.

Excellent job done by all to rectify this unfortunate situation. Arenas has been suspended for the year and is talking about teaching non-violence to kids. Crittendon has been punished too and the situation didn't get too crazy. Now the NBA can address the gun issue without shame. Why not permit the players to check their guns at the door and pick them up on the way out?
