Chris Matthews: 'I forgot Obama was black'
Staff Reporter | Posted January 28, 2010 10:09 AM
MSNBC TV host Chris Matthews said President Obama's State of the Union speech Wednesday night made him forget that the president was black.
"I was trying to think about who he was tonight, and it's interesting, he is post-racial by all appearances," Matthews said. He then added: "You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour."
Matthews credited Obama, who he said had "gone a long way to become a leader of this country and past so much history in just a year or two. I mean it's something we don't even think about."
He continued: "I was watching and I said: 'Wait a minute, he's an African American guy in front of a bunch of other white people and there he is president of the United States and we've completely forgotten that tonight. Completely forgotten it.'"

But of course if you mean Chris Mathews is a racist with some sarcasm then I think you are right?

Liberal whites aren't confused. They are what they have been. BET isn't the reason that Reid referred to Obama's lack of negro speech. Bet also isn't the reason Matthew's forgot Obama was black. There is a consistency between both ignorant statements. BET and MTV play no part in those perceptions.

The elephant in the room is that BET (I'll repeat for emphasis) for all it's negrodum, is not the reason white people prefer light complexioned or in this case, invisible blacks. You can harp on our "real" issues until the Redskins win a SuperBowl if you like. But, let's not live in denial.

If I am in denial, you are horribly misinformed. And I'll repeat for emphasis, BET is so miniscule in our list of "problems" that they don't even deserve an honorable mention. When TV shows become the "reason" for our problems, then we have really gone of the deep end.
Education is a problem. Academic education and the education we must continue amongst ourselves - to stop fallacious claims. I'm sure you also think that there were more black men in prison than in college too hunh?
