A Short List of Things Black People Do Not Like

I've even known Black people that work in the service industry (waiters,waitresses,porters, etc.) say that they don't even like to wait on Blacks because they don't tip even wen their service is top rate. Is it that many Blacks believe that the service person is receiving an hourly wage instead of having to depend on tips? And I've come to believe that the reason Maury gets so many people to bring their baby-Mama drama to his show and air it on national TV is that they can't afford the cost of the paternity test. For as many years as he's been doing shows on baby-Mama/baby-Daddy drama and out of control teens, you would have thought that he would have exhausted the pool of potential guests or folks would have realized that this is not the best medium to air your dirty laundry (telling the world all your business this most of this shows up on youtube later).

Some black people do not like being reduced into an imagined monolithic bloc which is spoken for by self-appointed black people.

16.Black people hate to see other black people appear on the Maury Povich show. It is so disingenuous to see Povich feign concern when one of his guest baby mamas finds out the person she accused is not the father. Povich is making a fortun showcasing these damaged lives and he is laughing all the way to the bank. Well maybe black people need to stop participating and watching his show. After reading several comments from some of the readers on this site I feel that there are a number of folk out there in true need of diversity or sensitivity training and they are not all in the majority.

White trolls who appear on Black websites pretending to be Black and make racist and other ignorant statements. Add that to the list.

Great list, and, if Cliche Jenkins is black, I'm Queen Elizabeth since she would have found the list to be spot on. This site has so many white racist/trolls its not even funny, and, its not as if we can't tell who they are.

Listen, I work in the service industry and it is true that blacks don't tip and EVERYONE knows it. I personally hate waiting on my people because when you give them the best service that anyone can give they (we) still don't leave anything. Stay at home if you really can't afford to eat out. When I see blacks in my section I quickly give the table away and it wouldn't matter if I need the money or not. It will never be worth my services to make your night special and you don't know how to stay thank you with your money. Cheap asses. I can't stand that and when you become a repeat cheap ass then you are marked for as long as you come to that place to eat. Tip at least 10 percent. We (SERVERS) keep track and if you are an butt about things...well..

See Karen...most of us aren't privillaged and don't care if you are or were. Most of us do have to work and serve ignorant "privillaged" blacks like yourself and you wonder why successful black men like myself (waiting tables or owning my own engineering firm) run to the white women or run to other successful men (if you like that). You don't know if they came out of foster care and had to pay their own way or if they have a set of balls to work and pay their way instead of being in debt when one graduate (like myself) YOU remember how you became "privillaged". If you think white is better than black (which apparently you do as you say you are "running" to the white woman), I feel for your future 1/2 black children and disheartened to continue to see black people internalizing white supremacist racism.

Another thing Black people don't like: Self hating Black waiters who purposefully seek out women of other races to procreate with so that they can have "mixed" children. WTF? As if mixed children don't face discrimination! Darksun will never get a tip from me! It probably hasn't occured to you that your obvious contempt for Black people might have resulted in them giving you the 2 cent tip you deserved.

Personally, I find that what works best is to humour or ignore completely any subtle racist who gives me a second best service or thinks I am a criminal or a rapist. Basically, do not ever look in the direction, or speak or smile in the company of a racist work colleague who ignores you in the street. Dont be agitated, just be indifferent. What all racists fear the most is racism against them, and to be un-noticeable. Sinc eit's all paranoia it makes white racists think that maybe white slavery is coming soon.

What i have not figured out is how to deal with discrimination from other black folk, like xenophobia. In my country there is loads of discrimination against other black Africans, I am sure it's a 100 times more destructive than white racism.

Alright...this is my last comment on this foolishness...Cmoney, I don't get tipped from blacks anyway (not proper ones)so what you said meant nothing. And as far as internalizing white supremacist ways and views, I disagree. I don't have to have a white women...but it damn sure won't be a black one. You women are too bitter and want too much. Maybe I should start a short list of things that white people don't like. I'll start it off with: 1. Black people talking and playing with their cell phones all through the movie. 2. Black men walking around with their asses sticking out of their pants. 3. Black people always using the word "no" instead of the word "any" or saying "cent" instead of "cents." 4. Black people so disrupting the public school system that kids who want to learn don't have a chance to. 5. Black people commiting at least 90% of all the violent crimes. 6. Black men who don't think they are at all responsible for raising their children. 7. All the black women who weigh 350 pounds and wear stretch pants. Get the picture. Everyone's got complaints. Of course if a white person voices their's then they are a racist.

I think African blacks and American blacks are worlds apart. I'm African and some of the things our American brothers do simply mesmerise me.

I agree with Claud, I grew up in S. Africa and recently moved to Nashville, TN to attend school and the blacks here in whole seem very out of touch with reality or at least the world that the rest of the americans live in. Very odd.

MasterDebator, I agree, I am black and there are many VALID issues that tend to get ignored or defended by calling it racist. Bill Cosby couldn't be more accurate in what he's saying. They are problems that NEED to be addressed to get us out of the deadly merry go round that we tend to never get off of. I am a proud black man,I love my innovative, talented and trend setting race and do everything that I can to encourage and motivate young black men. It's a challenge! Most blacks do still hide behind slavery that ended 144 years ago. 144 years ago and we still haven't snapped out of it. Who do you blame if YOU keep yourself in a cycle of turmoil that's going nowhere? Who can you blame? NO ONE!!! Get up and make a difference! Make a CHANGE! If you speak ghetto, your results will be just that. If you speak like you want to succeed, then your results will be that. It was MY decision to not go that route, I didn't have very strict parents, that watched my every move, I was out there with all of those knuckle heads! I took my destiny into my own hands! It's frustrating to see your own race SELF destructing, there's no government conspiracy, there's no other races going out to black neighborhoods and completely DESTROYING and neglecting the neighborhoods! Look around, what we defend is what we really do. How do we change that? How do you get an entire race to raise it's bar high enough to snap out of the non-sense and start creating a better future? HOW? TIPPING, I've excelled in the service industry from a dishwasher to being the VP of East coast and Mid west operations. (with only a High School diploma) Black people don't tip because they are not accustomed to it. In our neighborhoods, the restaurants are mostly walk up types with a bullet proof glass where your food is spinned out to you through a bullet proof roller. There are no sit down restaurants. (they are now starting to develop) Black people never had to tip anyone but the barber. We weren't brought up being taught how to tip and what a tip is for. Most people don't know that a server only makes $3.09 an hour and is depending on your "fair" tip. Most blacks think a tip is your left over change. While I was the VP I researched this in 10 major black restaurant markets to try and shed some light on the trend. Yes, blacks don't tip, I've had to fire servers that refused to wait on a table of blacks. Yes,blacks do run you back and forth as a server and sometime treat you bad. But, believe it or not, a positive trend is showing from servers surveyed across America. Blacks are dining more and now understand the tip process. With all of this being said, how do we as black people snap out of this never ending cycle of crime, lack of education, lack of desire and motivation, drugs, killing each other in record numbers and everything else that happens in our communities that we tend to ignore or make excuses for? How do we get a race to raise it's bar should be the questions instead of stating what "black don't like!" Who the hell cares what (we) black people don't like! If you smell like poop, people will say you smell! If you don't want them to say that, then CHANGE! ANYONE! HOW CAN WE RAISE THE BAR AND SNAP OUT OF THIS MADDNESS? I AM ALL EARS!

Respectfully, a form of the enslavement of Africans ended over 100 years ago, however the iniquity has send ripples reaching to the present day. In addition, human slavery continues.

Im sorry that those things bother you. I can tell you i have never done any of those things and i am a white man. I'll tell you one thing though. The way that i live my life is trying to better myself and be supportive for my family. The last thing i honestly care about is issues of race and to be honest alot of things black people percieve about white people is wrong too. Theres misconceptions in both races. It isnt always about what color you are. Its the person you are on the inside that counts and the only person you have to prove that to in your life is yourself.

If I posted an honest list of "What White People Hate", this woman would claim it to be racist. However, reverse racism seems to be acceptable in the black community.

I was a waiter when I was in school. I am a white male. I always had a black woman who would come in almost everyday and run me to death. Not only was everything she asked for a special order (stuff that wasn't really on the menu), but when it came out to her, prepared exactly as she ordered, she would find fault and send it back. It had to be exact to her specifications. You may say, so what? Everyone should get what you pay for. No, not with this woman. Her demands were unrealistic. And also, it was a cheap restaurant. Not some 5 star restaurant. She never looked at you, and she never smiled, she had a nasty and demanding attitude. AND SHE NEVER LEFT A TIP, EVER. I am not judging all black people by her actions, but man we hated to see her come in. I am sure there are white people like this as well. Anyways, I think this woman got some weird satisfaction from running white waiters to death. And even more satisfaction from not leaving a dime. I do agree with a post above, if you aren't going to tip the waiter, you shouldn't be there.

This is a beautiful dialogue. Darksun, masterdebator and theonetowatch all make valid points in response to the original post. Darksun could have afforded to do so without trying to bring down black women. That made several people defensive and rendered any argument he was trying to make moot. The story of African Americans is a modern day fairy tale. A race that was brought to this country to be forced into labor and fought hard to have equal rights. America is a better country because of black people. I've had several black supervisors and have been under black leaders in the military. Some of my best teachers and leaders have been black women. I think blogs like this, black civil rights activists and organizations like the NAACP are obsolete. Black people already have civil rights. They have every right that any other American has. The reason Black America is one of the most troubled communities in this country lies within. There is no agenda by the white man holding black people down. I'm sure most white people would rather see any fellow American do well. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I live in Baltimore and am afraid to go pretty much anywhere at night. I've been in Fell's Point in broad daylight and stared down and ran off the sidewalk by a couple of thugged out black guys who were trying to start trouble when I was with my girl. I know 3 people who have been mugged by black people and 1 person who was beaten mercilessly by a group of black guys in the year that I've lived in this city. People speculate about "white flight". Why does it happen? Is it because white people have some inherent problem with dark skin? No. White people leave an area when black people start to move in because they foresee an increase in crime and a decrease in property value. They're scared of black people. Not all black people are criminals or bad neighbors, but the neighborhoods that are predominately black are miserable and black people want to blame anyone but themselves. The path that black people have chosen so far is to create their own culture and resent mainstream society, which they consider "white". Mainstream American society is not "white". It's Irish, German, English, Chinese, Indian, Persian. Every other group of people who comes to America integrates into mainstream society and succeeds. Theonetowatch knows this. I feel the same way he does. I don't want to be scared of black people and I don't want black people to continue to be poor and disadvantaged as a whole, but I don't know what to do. I've considered becoming a "big brother" to a kid from East Baltimore or West Baltimore who doesn't have much of a chance to succeed given his environment, but I would be scared to go spend time with the kid. It sucks, but that's the way it is. People like Barack Obama are the future of black people in America. He leads by example. He is an articulate man. Articulate people, black or white, are an exception rather than a rule in America. It's pretty sad that calling someone articulate is racist now. This oversensitivity makes white people nervous to talk to black people at all. It's a really sad situation we have in America between races, but it is improving. People like theonetowatch are the ones improving it.

I grew up in a town that was middle class Cosby show type blacks. We were one of only two Hispanic families in this town. this was an upper middle class suburb that the section I lived in anyway was all black (yes they do exist). Nevertheless, I was treated HORRIBLY by the black kids growing up. Me and another peruvian girl - actually also there was a mied blood girl who got it too. You would nto believe the absolutel h*&^ my childhood was dealign with the out and out RACISM of black Americans as a child. It is to the pt where even today I have a fear of being aroudn black Americans becuase I am STILL treated badly by the majority of black American WOMEN I meet. I mean terribly. They called us names, the "white nigg88s" etc. Unbelievable. then they get made if we say we are white (hispanics" "Oh no you're not you're not white." it's ok for THEM to say I am white and call me names behind it but it is not ok for ME to say I am white. I admit to this day I steer clear of black Americans. I avoid work situations where there are lot of them - espeically the women, as they are combantant, bitter, angry, head shaking, and mean. I have met exceptions but I can honestly say bout 92% of them I have met in my life follow this pattern. What is interesting is - I grew up and as an adult moved clear across the country to CA. My friend there a Mexican girl, tells me that she had a hard time dealign with blacks and that soem black girls were constantly picking on her and her brother had to beat some of them up because of it. Now, here is a person clear across the country who has the exactly same experience I had ont he East Coast. Tell me this is "just a coincidence." I can see why black American men don't like black women. A lot of them. They are such nasty mean b(*&es their own men don't even want them.

I have had several occasions where I have been with black friends and had other black people they didn't know say hi and start talking to them and ignore me. Of course it doesn't happen every time but my point is that it's a two way street. I have also had black people tell me that they are better at everything. "we got one black man into golf and of course he is the best" I have red hair and have been treated differently most of my life. While it's not the same as other groups of people, red heads are a minority. I made that comment to a black woman once and she just laughed at me. I don't want to start a club or anything but I was kind of offended. What make having black skin any better than red hair? I have been treated differently and if you say it's different all I can say is how do you know? Walk a mile... Almost every black person I know thinks that President Obama is the most amazing person ever. I understand being glad that a barrier has been broken but it's still a bit racist for blacks to put Obama on such a pedistal over other presidents. I don't like it when blacks act like white people are idiots for liking things like skydiving or scuba diving. I have also been told that black people are too smart to do anything like that. It has nothing to do with being better or more intelligent. It's a matter of personal preference. for the record I love black people just as much as anyone else but I am annoyed by the same kind of ignorance or hatred being directed back at me when I have never persecuted blacks and am good friends with many blacks. We all just need to quit worrying about what other people think and be who we are.

I would really like to know why black youth seem to have such a problem with education. Their behavior and attitude in school is so painfully bad that you wonder why that it is. Maybe black people should not like that and quit blaming education for their own failures

Yeah but you gotta admit, blacks like to be in denial about themselves, like for example looking like apes, gorillas or chimps. How come it's cool when people say so and so looks like a cat but not a primate? Aren't they both animals and aren't all animals cute in their own way? Why get offended? Imo it's more funny when you try to deny what you actually do look like, cause it shows your inferiority complexes.

I can't speak for "All" Black people, but what I don't like is "The Dumbest Negro Theory." Why is it that "The Dumbest Negro" the media can find is alway put on the 6:00 news as a witness or an expert on the subject at hand? Why is it the "Dumbest Negro" that plays the race card or yells "The N Word" first? Why is it "The Dumbest Negro" the one our daughters bring home first to be rejected? Pull your pants up and shut up if you can't find anything original or constructive to say?

@ OP: Look within to realize why these items bother you so much. Unfortunately, these things will only change when you give people some concrete reason to change. In fact, many of the items (e.g., poor restaurant service due to low tip expectation) will only change when YOUR OWN PEOPLE learn to change their behavior. The sad truth is that black people in America today are mistreated largely because non-black people fear your tendency to carry out violent or otherwise obnoxious habits. Asians and latinos do not tend to complain about these issues as much. It turns out they also are less likely to commit violent crimes than black people. Further, they are more likely own their own businesses and NOT rely on government handouts (i.e., food stamps and welfare / disability). I know, I know, you are probably wishing to point out that their success is because whites are somehow "less" racist against these groups. I can agree that, in America anyway, racism from whites is most usually directed towards blacks. However, I happen to know that it is usually BECAUSE of the behavior of blacks that many whites are so racist toward them. Think about it. You can only bring lasting change to this world when you learn to make changes from within. The opportunity is there. People literally die for the chance to come work in America. Do you want your legacy to be one of chronic complaints or one of honor and dignity?

I am going to make a list of things that all people other than blacks hate: 1. Other people hate that blacks always want to complain about not being treated fairly. 2. Other people can't understand why black people seem to see everything as a race issue but can't be racists because their ancestors were slaves. 3. Other people are extremely unnerved that Black people judge "other" people waiting for the racism to come out either by word or deed. 4. Other people become incensed that black people see perceived grievances or disagreements as victimization based on their race. That's about it - Since we are all generalizing. I'm sure I'm a racist for bringing it up right? (see #2 or #4)

There was a time when Irish and Italians had very nasty stereotypes. Even recently, I have heard people genuinely ask an Italian friend of mine if he had any mob connections, but instead of vilifying the one who asked the question (and making a sarcastic web post about "sensitivity" toward Italians), he laughed it off. All of these stereotypes, though not representative of the majority of African Americans, are BASED in truth. Lastly, I am appalled at the inclination that slavery was ANYTHING like the holocaust. I am disgusted by slavery, it was a gross and ignorant system that hurt countless people, but there was never a time when SIX MILLION slaves were SYSTEMATICALLY MURDERED.

B: Millions of Africans died in horrible conditions on boats bringing them to America as slaves. There bodies were dumped overboard, some still alive. Their deaths were slow and agonizing. I am not making light of the holocaust, but how long did the Jews had to suffer compared to centuries of being held in slavery for the African.

I'm black and I think the holucost and slavery shouldn't even be compared an I wish people would just stop doing it. Let me just point out differences.... Slavery: alot of people forced to work with no pay and just enough resources to keep them alive. Slave owners didn't want their slaves to die becouse they cost money. Holucost: alot of people taken from their homes seperated from their family and either starved to death or were killed. The goal was to kill as many as they could so Jews didn't get enough food or anything and when they died they were burned and alot of them were used for scientific experiments and put into huge acid wash death shower things (idk what they're called lol) and don't forget how half the time they were killed in huge pits so they drop dead in their own graves. Which one do you think was worse? And do you ever here a Jew today complaining? Honestly I've never heard a black person complain about slavery but I think that's becouse I'm a teenager and the younger generation just doesn't care anymore it's the adults that still dwell on it. Black people not tipping is such a stereotype! I have a diverse group of friends and the phenomena I observe regarding tipping, it is the preference of the person and is not influenced by race.
