Wanda Sykes Went Over the Top with the Limbaugh Joke

The White House correspondent's dinner was a hoot. It was fun to see the President just have fun. Wanda Sykes was the headliner and she was very funny, but she did go over the top.

Sykes said that Rush Limbaugh was one of the president's chief critics and suggested that the president should check out Rush Limbaugh, and see if he was the 20th highjacker on the 9/11 flights. She said he probably missed his flight because he was strung out on drugs. Some in the crowd booed and others nervously laughed.

This simply was not funny. It was in bad taste and it gives Limbaugh and his cronies fodder for their shows and their websites. Some things are off limits and 9/11 falls into that category. Rush Limbaugh is in fact a hatemonger, but to compare him to the 9/11 terrorists who killed over 3,000 innocent Americans is way over the top.

Maybe what she said wasn't funny to the writer of this blog; however, it was funny to me. If you do not like the jokes comedians tell then you should not invite them to headline a political event or an event that involves politicians. People should be able to tell the difference between a comedian and a politician; although I know it is difficult sometimes. She is an edgy comedian and I clearly do not understand why such fuss is being made about her comments about a guy who goes over the edge everyday. Why has their not been such an outcry over the junk that comes from Rush Limbaughs' mouth.

@Perry, that's because Rush is white. He can say whatever he wants without repercussions. Frankly, I thought Sykes did a wonderful job. It was QUITE tame from her normal routines. Imagine that, it took a black woman to 'check' Limbaugh. Eat your heart out, Michael Steele. And now, all his white and 'black' cronies are taking up for him? Dang, let the man defend himself. We must protect our 'master'. hahaha

Perry, I agree with you totally! I used to sport a "Flush Rush" tee shirt and thought it was more appropriate than having to listen to the crap that spews from his mighty white mouth. Rush is a racist and I would not doubt that he is related to the mighty poobah of the KKK. When I heard the totally disparaging remarks he made about the path the United States is taking because of President Obama, I cringed to think that there are many Republicans that support him and the prospective of him actually running for any governmental office is very upsetting. We may as well have elected George Wallace for president and Rush Limbah will take us back decades into the dark hole of hate and segregation that we fought so hard to crawl out of.

Rush Limbaugh is worst than any terrorist becuase he attacks our country insidiously. By fomenting hate and distrust, he enables the terrorists to attack a disunited, distracted and bitter populace. Wanda was on point! Run Rush's fat behind out of the country!!! And Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly should be right behind him!!!!

This is why the democrats are always seen as having no spine, they will apologize for anything, including a funny comedian doing what has been done for years mocking those who are in the spot light called politics. Had Dennis Miller made some sort of quip like this, they would be up in arms. Good taste in comedy is a matter of opinion and Ms Sykes is as funny as they come, at least to those who know how to laugh and know for a fact that Limberger hates America under the Dem's and blacks even more.

i thought the joke was funny as hell. Rush is a terrorist and so is Dick Cheney. Rush has made fun of parkinson, he has offended everybody on the planet, we hear him saying that the president is making the country less safe. Rush always go too far. I hope his kidneys fail my damn self. But that wouldn't happened because i'm sure there are a lot of replithugs willing to donate thier body to save that fat bastard.
