Wanda Sykes Went Over the Top with the Limbaugh Joke
Joni L. Reynolds | Posted May 12, 2009 10:14 AMThe White House correspondent's dinner was a hoot. It was fun to see the President just have fun. Wanda Sykes was the headliner and she was very funny, but she did go over the top.
Sykes said that Rush Limbaugh was one of the president's chief critics and suggested that the president should check out Rush Limbaugh, and see if he was the 20th highjacker on the 9/11 flights. She said he probably missed his flight because he was strung out on drugs. Some in the crowd booed and others nervously laughed.
This simply was not funny. It was in bad taste and it gives Limbaugh and his cronies fodder for their shows and their websites. Some things are off limits and 9/11 falls into that category. Rush Limbaugh is in fact a hatemonger, but to compare him to the 9/11 terrorists who killed over 3,000 innocent Americans is way over the top.
