Washington Post profiles 'Obama women'

The Washington Post today profiled some of the leading African American women in the Obama administration.

The "Obama women," as they are called in the story, "mark another step in the long journey of black women from outsiders to gatekeepers in political Washington," writes Post staff writer Krissah Thompson.

Thompson says "they have quietly entered their jobs with little attention paid to the fact that they are the largest contingent of high-ranking black women to work for a president."

I can't help but notice the hue, the skin tone of these women. Is there a "paper bag test" in the White House? I would think not since Michelle herself would not pass, however I look at these photos and know there is an array of beautiful tones across the spectrum of brilliant and talented Black women. How is it that this women all seem to be of the same lighter shade skin tone? All of them? Not one chocolately chocolate sister? Coincidence? Hummmmm? I wonder.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I have been thinking the exact same thing! And it is not just the women. What's up with that. Just look at Bill Burton, Obama's deputy press secretary, who has only recently disclosed that he is biracial. And this only after the Obama administration was criticized for the absence of African Americans in its press corps. Maybe this can all be explained away because, well, it can't be...

Oh please.....some of you people need some serious professional mental help. The low self esteem factor of SOME African Americans will always be a factor regardless of who is appointed to Obama's administration. So guess what your saying NOW is Obama think light skin blacks are better? How sad...

Seriously, fine something else to pick on. These women apparently are the best qualified. If you think otherwise, write to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and tell them that light skin women have an advantage because they have light skin and the darker sisters aren't being looked at because the job of First Lady has already been taken. Please, some of you get lives. The country is in debt, the economy is going to hell, our major institutions are falling apart, and some of you are still worried about color.

Interesting comments. These are the women who have been traditionally given opportunities,education and employment. So they have been able to excel. Now they are quite qualified for the various jobs they hold. The situation did not start with Obama. Also it's clear Obama is not prejudice agaimst dark skin people. his child and his wife are dark.
