So while I was prepping my house for the arrival of my house guests from New York, the wonderfully talented U People duo Hanifah Walidah and Olive Demetrius, I decided to take some time to work on my own bedroom, not that anything's going to be happening in there anytime soon...but that's another post for another time.
If you recall, not too long ago, I had my boy Vincent come over and help me take care of some things around the house. We added a shelf in my closet to accommodate my fetish for shoes, hung some artwork, etc. etc.
Well, my friend Alloghn Agbenya, an artist from Ghana, created another masterpiece that I felt would be much more appreciated in my bedroom than in a museum and so I managed to convince him of it. For the past five years I have been featuring the artwork of Alloghn in my bedroom but this latest piece takes the cake. What it is is a two piece canvas that covers one entire wall in my bedroom, the wall behind my bed and takes the place of a headboard, something I was never really fond of.
And even though I was supposed to cleaning up every room but my room before my guests came, priorities, I made the time to hang up the artwork, by myself mind you, and still clean up the rest of the house before they got here. What can I say? I was determined and besides I needed a change of scenery in my bedroom for the five minutes I am up before falling out in a deep coma like sleep underneath the warmth of my electric blanket.
Martha Stewart may have Kmart, but I've got Alloghn. A few more things here and there, and I may submit my bedroom to Better Homes and Gardens. Sh**...think I won't...think again.
