Chris Brown says I'm sorry
Staff Reporter | Posted February 16, 2009 9:30 AM
After a week of speculation following his arrest in Los Angeles, recording artist Chris Brown has issued an apology.
In a statement released on Sunday, Brown said he was "sorry and saddened" about the incident that took place on Feb. 8. "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," Brown said. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones, and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."
The 19-year-old R&B singer was accused of assaulting a woman, whose identity has not yet been released by police, but most sources indicate that Brown's girlfriend Rihanna was the victim in the altercation. Rihanna's father told the media that she had broken up with Brown, according to an account in the New York Times.
Brown denied posting a comment about the incident on his Facebook page and denied some of the charges swirling around on the Internet. "Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and-or reported in the media is wrong," he said, but he said he could not discuss the details of the case while litigation was pending.
Brown's arrest could have a major impact on his career. Wrigley has suspended its Doublemint gum commercial with Brown until the case is resolved and Brown's "Got Milk" advertisement has also been pulled. Some radio stations have reportedly stopped playing his music, according to Voice of America.
In a statement, Wrigley said that it is "concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown," but the gum maker added that Brown "should be afforded the same due process as any citizen."

I purchased both of his CD's and like him very much. But this is a cheap attempt at redemption and this of course is a statement prepared by a publicist, or attorney and NOT from the heart
Chris just go and seek counseling and get yourself together. You're too young to be an abuser and it's sad
