Serena Williams wins Australian Open

Serena Williams easily defeated Dinara Safina on Saturday to win her fourth Australian Open championship.

The second-seeded Williams won her 10th Grand Slam singles title 6-0, 6-3, defeating her 22-year-old Russian opponent in less than an hour. Williams will now be ranked number one in the world on Monday.

"I definitely think it was definitely one of my most dominant performances, especially considering it was a final," Williams said after the victory. "I was able to just lift the level of my game."

The Associated Press called it "total domination" for Williams, "who looked at ease in winning back-to-back majors -- she won the U.S. Open championship in September -- and was moving fluidly on the court."

Way to go Miss Serena Williams, I guess you have put a sock in those pesky commentators who said you were a has been. 10 majors and 10 combined doubles and mixed doubles titles and the most money made by a woman athlete, go on now! Get a French and Wimby and make it another Serena Slam 2009!

It truly was a lovely match. Watching Serena play when she's at the level she's capable of is something of an amazing spectacle! I'm so very proud of her, and I'm most proud of the hard work she's obviously put in to become the best player she can be! Go on gurrl!!! ;)

Considering her talent, Serena should have won 15 slams by now! And Venus, 11. I hope they get there.

And I hate Rafael Nadal.
