Thanksgiving with the Obamas

I for one am tired of The Daily Voice serving up these "softball" blog entries on Obama wherein the real issue and matters are avoided in whole. "Change"? (1) The guy's appointed lobbyist, Clinton, a whole bunch of familiar faces that ARE NOT CHANGE in key places. (2) He's appointed George Bush's guy to continue and carry on with Iraq - guaranteeing his pledge to get out in 16 months will not be honored (3) He's agreed to keep the Bush tax cuts benefiting the wealthy in place, NO ROLL BACK of the Bush tax cuts, contrary to all his talk But this Blog site won't touch the many Obama actions that are incongruent to all the talk, all the speech, all the things he said when he was the "candidate". It's as if he gets a pass on not honoring or living true to his talk. Obama has already failed his base on numerous points. I for one gave about $400 Obama, 4 different $100 donations. I feel betrayed that his talk during the campaign is not being realized and honored now that he's won. Where's the CHANGE in who's heading Iraq? THERE IS NO CHANGE. Obama has accept Bush's guy. Pathetic. Obama, cute familiar, political more of the same and disappointing to those able to be honest and ubiased, look at the facts, and see Obama is back tracking on a daily basis.

Anonymous... you're an idiot. 1. Obama promised *policy* change, not personnel change. You know what the most effective way to do that is and make it actually happen? You know, get actual results? You put a bunch of people in place who know how everything works, then you TELL THEM WHAT TO GET DONE and let them loose to do it. Which works a hell of a lot better then putting a bunch of new people in place who have no clue how to make the bureaucracy work just because they agree with every word you say, tell them what to get done, then watch them fail to make anything happen because they don't know how the system operates. 2. As pointed out by Contender, he hasn't even been inaugurated yet for cripes sake. 3. The Bush tax cuts thing is an uncredited rumor from an anonymous source. And even THAT only says the rollback might be temporarily delayed. By all means, let's base our evaluation of an administration that hasn't even STARTED yet on random bits of gossip, and have a nice little temper tantrum over all the things that makes us imagine are going to go wrong.

This is vigorously discussed and debated in most all Obama quarters, why can't this truth, this inconsistency be openly discussed here (without name calling like "idiot")? Is a Black Blog capable of being unbiased & honest? Or can Obama do no wrong? Forgive me, I forgot, Mr. Obama walks on water, is above accountability, has a lifetime free pass with Black people.

After January 20, 2008 and maybe two months into the presidency, make an intelligent hard look at the beginning of change and then criticize. Right now criticism isn't warranted for four hundred bucks. You are being selfish, unfair and a little on the nasty and side. Get a grip.

Daily Voice, please get the message to Mr. O'bama that the people want a big inaugural celebration. He thinks that he shouldn't have one because so many people are going through hard times. Please let him know that we do need some cheering up and there's no better way to do it.

Anonymous: As Grant implied, Obama is putting people in place that can get the job done. As Obama said the other day, no matter who he selects on his team he is the one who will be making the final decisions. In other words, Obama will be the one implementing policy changes. We know Bush has not informed Obama on all details on the Iraqi war. Are you saying Obama should replace Bush’s guy who is at least knowledgeable on the war before Obama gets a full grip on the situation?

Has Media Let Obama's Reversal Pass Unnoticed? Obama is starting to feel a bit of pressure from members of the far left of his own party who are beginning to raise their eyebrows over the fact that he hasn't shown any desire to institute any "change" thus far with his staff and cabinet picks even though they had "hope" that he would. Obama went so far as to address the situation today as MSNBC reported on its FirstRead blog. Obama explains away his lack of "change" and his picking of a plethora of out-of-work Clintonites by saying that who he puts on his staff and cabinet don't matter. It's because he is the change we seek, you see? But, wait, you might ask. If the press were paying attention, they might remember that during his acceptance speech he said this whole thing wasn't about him, it was about us? Wasn't it that we were the change we were waiting for... right? Is the press going to let him get away with dropping that hoary rhetoric only to say now it's suddenly all about him? Ostend- Give it up, Man! There are some backward, mal-contented, anal retentive individuals out there who would be unreasonably critical of Obama even if he had a flawless Presidency. Let them complain and waste their breath while we get to work to repair the damage done by the Bush Administration and the rest of the GOP.

O'bama is selecting a mix of people for his staff. That includes olde timers who know how the system works and how to get things done, and new people. That seems reasonable to me.

He also wants people of divergent views and outlooks so that decisions will be of a higher quality than if he selected people of only one viewpoint. It's about time someone did that.

Obviously he is only the president ELECT and has not yet had an opportunity to implement changes in direction. However, I am very encouraged by what he has done so far. Give him a chance before attacking him!! And, even when he becomes president, the problems we have will not be easy to solve. Probably solving many of the problems will require more than 8 years, so considerable patience is in order.

O'bama NEVER campaigned on having a presidency that included "olde timers who know how the system works and how to get things done, and new people". Though not yet the President, the choices he's already made have assured he's reversed on his pledge to have the troops out of Iraq in 16 months. The "Obama Reversals" are already clear, they've already began. The only thing that's not begun is truth, honesty, and an unbiased view from the obamabots of this blog site.

Anonymous, I am leaning towards agreeing with you. I am, however, willing to give Barack the benefit of the doubt given an overriding (and perhaps obsessive) concern about how the financial markets perform prior to his taking office. The Daschle HHS appointment is a good one, and I expect to see some real change at Education, Labor, and HUD.
