Left and right debate bailout proposals

I know & like Keith Boykin but he's wrong (and matters 'economy' out of his range). (1) There was a time when all televisions & computers were made in America. In a global economy we learn other parts of the globe do it better & more efficiently and we bid those industries farewell. Also we're heading to a 'North American Alliance Economy' (Mexico-USA-Canada) and cars will always be being made in Mexico within the NA trade alliance. Also, there are lots of places in America where cars making is fine & in great shape, however those plants are owned by Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Honda, etc. The auto industry is doing well in America - outside of Detroit and American companies. The false metric is the # of jobs connected to the auto industry. Hertz, Avis, and auto repair shops, etc. will all be fine, there will never be a shortage of autos and engines in America, there will be no "void" down stream in the economy. (2) Funding Detroit is "catching a falling knife". Detroit has poor business models, poor management and middle management, & poor contracts with workers, and poor products. There is nothing, not one thing wise or intelligent about giving money to an entity ill prepared to do something positive, viable, etc. with that money. There's no advantage, no plus, no upside, nothing to be optimistic about, there's not a single foundation going forward to suggest Detroit has the talent, products, or workforce to know how to "turn around". (3) This is little more than a bail out of pensions & disadvantageous liabilities and a fleecing of the U.S. Taxpayer. (4) How stupid is this? Realize the U.S. Newsprint/Newspaper industry is in similar condition to Detroit. Most of you all know this, see this, anyone in journalism or media knows this. Should the U.S. Government Bail Out the U.S. Newspaper Industry? Are they next? Lots of jobs are connected to it, etc. If not, why not? Are they not deserving? Businesses are responsible for preparing for tomorrow, period, that includes Newspapers - and many have invested tremendously for how the world obtains news media / content. Lots of industries fall victim to technology, that's life. Are you all aware lots of Colleges and Universities are in financial trouble too? Especially the Historically Black Colleges. If the US Auto Industry is not responsible for it's choices to focus on gaz guzzling high profit products, why and how should colleges & universities be responsible for their poor financial shape? Who's more vital to the future of America, Ford or Colleges and Universities? You all know right now FISK needs a Bail Out, as do many Black Colleges. This "Bail Out" argument is about Insiders, White Power Structure taking care of itself, that's all. There should have been no bail outs for anyone. If Keith is going to speak on this topic in media, he has to expand his perspective, allow for the natural evolution of the economy, etc. Keith is basically arguing for the continuation of typewriters to be made while the world wants computers. The auto industry in America is in great shape, just visit the auto plants all over the South. It's just Detroit with their poor personnel, poor products, and horrible contracts. The Bail Out Argument can be placed to just about every industry - for example Keith, I own my own company, I pay $650/month for Health Insurance, I would guess the majority of readers of this blog do not have health insurance if they do not have a full time job, if they temp, they don't have insurance. Where's the "BAIL OUT" for the Uninsured? Huh Keith? If you need health care but don't have insurance, and rack of a $500 or $5000 bill at the doctors office, don't you deserve a bail out? How about this one Keith. There are lots of people that have gone into massive debt to pay for their medications, HIV+ medications, whatever, tell me Keith...should Americans that now have $5,000 and $10,000 and $100,000 debt to to medications and the cost of medical care.....do we merit a bail out? The point is the "Pro Bail Out" position is not reserved for power insiders, they're the ones that lobby for it. Please Keith, if you're going to speak to "bail out" - democratize the notion, will ya? Make America look in the mirror of the foolishness of catching a falling knife, the unfairness of not bailing out Fisk or other HBCU's will bailing out irresponsible industry. Thank You.

College Loans are PREDATORY. A Bail Out of Ford & GM (yesterday) is a waste of money, you're bailing out past poor decisions, not making industry accountable. Why not a bail out of those with Student Loan Debt? This would be an investment in the future and allow the young to wield power in the economy going forward, as opposed to being strapped for the next 10 to 20 years. Get it together Keith, why not take a position that illustrates some visionary thinking?
