Beyonce: 'so proud' of America, Obama
Staff Reporter | Posted November 12, 2008 10:29 PMPop star Beyoncé Knowles is among the many celebrities expressing her joy about the election of Barack Obama as president.
"I am so, so, so beyond proud and I've never felt so patriotic," she told British-based ITN News this week. "I just feel like, now when I talk to my nephew, who is four, and say you can be whatever, it's so honest and it's history and I felt really great to be a part of it."
Beyonce participated in campaign events for Obama and "met a lot of the people that were voting and standing in line for hours, thousands and thousands of young people," she said.
The youth vote was particularly energized in this election, and the 27-year-old Beyoncé said she understood why. "I think we all felt like we had a big part of it and we were spoken to," she said. "So it's just really beautiful to unite the country so much. Even in Japan and all around the world, people are just ready. It was time, and it's here and it's beautiful."
