Obama appears on BET's '106 & Park'

Senator Barack Obama appeared on BET's "106 & Park" on Friday, in what may be the first appearance ever by a presidential nominee on the top-rated BET show.

Obama took questions from hosts Rocsi and Terrence and told the young audience that he is proud of his campaign's use of the Internet and suggested he might hold "virtual town hall meetings" if he's elected president "where myself or cabinet members get online, answer people's questions directly, make ourselves more accountable."

Asked what he thought would be the top issues facing the new president, Obama cited the economic crisis and the housing crisis as two of the most pressing challenges. The Illinois senator also talked about jobs, health care, the cost of college education and community service during his interview.

A member of the audience asked Obama what he could tell a young person who has lost faith in government and Obama said he understood why youth might have lost faith but reminded the questioner that government is simply made up of people.

Obama ended his appearance with a pitch for votes. "I need you all to register. I need you all to vote...We can make history right here in this election," he said.

Asked for final thoughts, Obama told the audience to "dream big dreams and know that if you work hard there's nothing you can't achieve, and that includes winning this election."
