Could Colin Powell endorse Obama?

And from the depths of the flushed toilet they all arise. First old two-faced ex-madame Maya Angelou and now nephew Tom (Clarence still holds the title of uncle) himself, Colin Powell. Who next, Allen Keyes perhaps? Armstrong Williams? Hip-hop republicans who finally realize how rediculous and irrevalent they are looking appearing only in the wee hours of the morning on weekends?

Bob LaBlah do you think that a black person has to support Barack Obama just because he black and for that reason you attack both Maya Angelou and Colin Powell? If your answer to that question is yes, then you are just as ignorant as the people appearing at John McCain rallies. Stop attacking distinguished black people just because they were not early supporters of Barack Obama. The only thing that matters is they have come to support him now given that he is actually the best candidate. Stop all of the nonsense.

LaBlah's pretty funny and spot on. You're wrong Perry. There are some figures who made choices and have proven to be on the wrong side of history. Counter Maya and with Oprah. What Oprah did was bold, she risked something, she in fact did suffer consequences in her private life business endeavors, there was a bit of a backlash, she could have played it safe and stood on the sidelines. Did she? No. Oprah came out EARLY, before the bandwagon and said she's supporting Obama NOT because he's Black, but because he's BRILLIANT. Oprah had the vision to be on the right side of history? Maya? Not the case. And about 75% of the Congressional Black Caucus, those old lame Negroes of the Clinton Plantation? They're on the wrong side of History. I'm talking about old bags like Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel, Shirley Jackson Lee, the Dead Old Bag from Ohio, etc. These old negroes that tried to hoodwink other Black people to pay respect to Miss Clinton of the Clinton Plantation. Many Old Negroes like Negro Maya tried to BAMBOOZLE other Blacks to fall in line with the Clinton Plantation. Why? Massa Clinto been good to us Negroes. Judgment Matters and Maya's Judgment was driven by being friends with Miss Clinton and not what our Country needed. Oprah was friends with Hillary - however Oprah did not let that fact color her judgment. That's the difference. Colin Powell? At least he's not been supporting anyone - that in and of itself says to me he's clearly pro Obama. Maya was incredibly pathetic in fact in her efforts to hoodwink and bamboozle other Black people. Again, LaBlah hit it head on. 50 Cent is the worse, he was vocal about supporting Hillary - what a joke. Again, counter that stand Oprah took, the risk she took in upsetting and putting off her audience, v. that old caged bird Negro lady Maya.

Colin Powell still has a lot of clout with many White conservatives. So, if he does announce that he's supporting Obama it will be a huge news worthy event. It will create a lot of interest in the media. It will also be interesting to see if these same conservatives turn on Powell. If he does endorse Obama...I can't wait to see the fireworks!!!!

With the type of dignity this man has always carried he will do the right thing. He is still respected worldwide.

Correction: MAYA ANGELOU initially endorsed HILLARY CLINTON---NOT Obama!

Since knowing Colin and his wonderful wife Alma since 2000, I totally respect his political opinions as do many Republicans. This endorsement will do more for Obama than the fake Clinton endorsements.

I for one could care less if Colin Powell endorses Obama. The man is nothing but a house slave. And I don't care what status he still has. The man lost all credibility and respectibilty when he let himself be use by the bushies and made that speech to the U.N. And thus the quagmire of Iraq. The man has blood on his hands. SCREW HIM!

I'm going to go ahead and say that Colin Powell will not endorse either candidate. His strong silence works against McCain, but doesn't help Obama much. But I got to see who he votes, I'd put money on the fact that he'll vote for Obama. Pure speculation on that though.

I am sure if you go back and reread the posts here and then think about the chain of events leading up to the Iraq war you will see the "clout" that Colin Powell carries with voters. This is the same man who KNEW DAMN WELL IF HE STOOD HIS GROUND AND DID WHAT HE, AS A MILITARY MAN SHOULD HAVE DONE, WHICH WAS RESIGN BECAUSE HE DISAGREED WITH HIS PRESIDENT AND THAT TALKING BLACK PARROT ON HIS SHOULDER NAMED CONDOLEEZA RICE, HE WOULD NOT RECIEVE THE SPEAKING FEES AND SUCH ELSE REWARDED TO AN UNCHALLENGING NEGROE SUCH AS HIMSELF. General Zinni, a retired white marine general, went on every news channel two years later demanding heads should roll because too many people, including our "beloved" Gen. Powell, knew there was no exit plan, no plan to deal with a possible insurgency even though they knew they were invading a muslim country nor estimates of the cost of a war of this magnitude. General Zinni was pissed at Powell and I agree rightfully so. If you are going to play the roll of a wrapped in the american flag black general then go the whole nine yards. Powell should have fallen on his sword. If he had done that there is not one general out there who would not hold him up in the highest of honors. Do not think for one minute the reason he is keeping his mouth shut is because he voices concern about Obama or McCain. He is keeping his mouth shut out of shame and financial reasons. A military general who was the hero of the gulf war (or should I say the man who proved that even with modern military weapons arabs still do not stand a snowballs chance in hell in a fight with ANOTHER highly mechanized army). I stand by earlier comments regarding him and Aunt Jamaya. Somebody please flush the toilet before their step'n fetchit asses get one foot on the floor.

The wind is under Obama's feet. He's the man with the gift to bring the world together. We love the Obama Family and wish them all the success possible. Obama said it best: We are the change we've been waiting for. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Obama can't work his magic if we don't elect him into office. I beg each and every one of you to make sure everyone within voting age get to the polling booths and vote. This lightning will not strike twice. An Obama will not come along again in our life time. Think of this like your life depends on it. Barack the vote! OBAMA/BIDEN08!

Bob, As a Service Connected Disabled Veteran, I am right there with you on all of your well thought out and articulate points... seriously, very well done. No one can argue that Powell has stepped in it on a number of occasions and has truly let us all down. However, the optimist in me wants to believe that Powell had only the best of intentions... I know, I know... but just hear me out... Most of you would agree that surrounded by the incredibly FUBAR’ed Whitehouse Administration of the last 8 years, Powell sticks out like an Albert Einstein surrounded by a group of Sarah Palin’s. When Powell failed to fall on his sword, as you so eloquently put it, I was right there with you, shouting as loud as anyone. But later I realized that had he done what most of us wanted him to do, he would have been out, and who knows “what” they would have replaced him with. Call me naïve, but I prefer to believe that Powell had all of our best interests at heart by staying where he was to try his best to change the culture and mindset of this Administration from within. And for all we know... he just may have succeeded. I know it’s almost impossible right now, but try to imagine how much worse things could be... I’m just saying, what if?

Colin Powell is and always has been a butt kisser and suck up. Colin will continue to study the polls and when he is sure Obama will win, he will endorse him. He always takes the safe route. Never rocks the boat. Never offends Whitey. A perfect Negro, he is.

LaBiah-- you are right, this entire Iraqi war would not have taken place if Colin Powell had resigned before Bush decided to run for President the second time. We wouldn't be in this financial mess and all those yessa have blood on their hands. 50 cent is a waste of time and holds no weight to anything. I can respect Oprah, she stood up for what her beleived in, took her lumps and she basically said I will not be moved. Oprah is one of those people who would die for what she believes in and I can respect that. Maya Angelou is one of my favorites and I respect her as well but our older generation of people sometimes are loyal to the people (regardless if they are black or white) who have help their careers and they see as the whites who have looked out for black people. The older generation of black people never thought in their life time, they could imagine a black man as President. Yes, the thought exists in their minds but they couldn't see it. If there is one thing that came out of the Iraq War, is Bush has the lowest decline ever as President which set the stage for Barack to run as President. Nothing and I mean nothing, happens for it's time. If Colin Powell stands up to endorse Obama, I'll commend him for it, we all have done things in our lives which deserves forgiveness. By Colin Powell not standing up to reject the Iraq war, this will be a guilt he will carry to his grave. It's not for us to judge Colin Powell because he will be judge by a higher power.

Powell looks kind of crazy and mad in his picture so it doesn't surprise me that he wants Mr. Obama "Hussein" i9n office. The real reason is because he is black. He would endorse anybody who is black. Thank goodness Hitler wasn't black and running for president. I feel for our youth in this great country.
