Another debate, another missed opportunity for McCain

Daily Voice editor Keith Boykin argues that John McCain contradicted himself at Tuesday night's debate by promising an across-the-board spending cut at the same time he called for a $300 billion federal government program to buy up mortgages.

In a post-debate television appearance on CNBC, Boykin gave good marks to McCain and Obama overall but said McCain missed an opportunity to deliver a "game changing performance." Republican strategist Kevin Madden and CNBC host Larry Kudlow also felt that McCain missed opportunities to connect in the debate.

"The format was not really conducive to an attack mode," Madden said. The Republican said Obama did a lot of bobbing and weaving to a "very positive effect."

Boykin also questioned McCain's suggestion of eBay CEO Meg Whitman as a possible Treasury Secretary by pointing out that eBay had fired 10 percent of its workforce this weekend. Kudlow called Boykin's statement a "cheap shot."
