Hear new Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia duet: 'I'm His Only Woman'

Jennifer Hudson goes old school with her new duet "I'm His Only Woman," sung with former American Idol co-star Fantasia.

The song picks up on a theme in Shirley Brown's 1975 classic, "Woman to Woman," including the beginning in which Fantasia calls up Hudson to chat about the man they're both dating.

Hudson: Hello?

Fantasia: Hello, can I speak to Jennifer please?

Hudson: Yes, this is Jennifer. May I ask who's calling?

Fantasia: Hi Jennifer. I'm Tony's girlfriend. I don't mean to call on that disrespectful stuff like ...

Hudson: Wait a minute. Tony's girlfriend? Apparently you got the wrong number because I'm Tony's woman, his only woman that is.

Fantasia: Well obviously that's what he's been telling you, but I'm calling right now to formally introduce myself. My name is Fantasia...

Hudson: Did you just say introduce yourself?

Fantasia: Yeah...

Hudson: Well I don't need no introduction. I am his woman and I am Jennifer Hudson. If this was ten years ago, I'd be at your front door ready to whoop your ass. But you know what? I'm too grown for that. I ain't got nothing else to say.

Hudson then sings, "I'm his only woman" and Fantasia responds, "Guess he played you like a fool. I think he's lying to you."

Although it was not a duet, Shirley Brown's 1975 song began similarly.

Hudson's new song will be released with her new solo album, Spotlight, out next Tuesday.
