McCain, Obama woo conservative Christians at Rick Warren forum

I watched this event and I must say I was impressed with both McCain and Obama. It did seem that McCain's responses resonated with the audience more because he seemed more definite in his responses. I love the fact that Barack is methodical in his thoughts, however, at times his "long winded" reponses come across as less definitive on where he stands on issues. I am still in full support of Barack's candidacy and hold the greatest respect for where he stands on all the issues.

I would have to agree with James in A-town. Obama did his self no favors by seeming torn and unclear on some of the questions. But to a bigger point. Its interesting to have a political type of debate at a religous institution because the theology of racist whites points to the core of their belief. If you believe whites are created above blacks you can never invision them in any real position of authority over you. Why do you they went to great lengths to paint every image of Jesus "white". Becuase to bow down to him, he must look like them, and be one of them. Obama is not. And the masses of whites will not vote for him. Even at their own parrel.

Dear Pastor Warren, My husband and I taped and watched your show featuring the two presidential candidates with the hope that it would be an unbiased and fairly presented discussion, same questions, same amount of time...we even looked forward to it thinking that because of your position, (as a well known pastor/man of the cloth) it had a better chance at fairness than a run of the mill network television broadcast. However, your presentation and querying of the candidates, and your interpretation of fairness was sorely disappointing. During his hour, you repeatedly reminded Obama NOT to give his stump speeches... and he did not. His answers were thoughtful, intellectual, and from the heart...but you did NOT even ONCE remind McCain. You allowed McCain to not only give his stump speeches ad nauseum but you ALLOWED AND ENCOURAGED him to ramble on with anecdotes and jokes and to glibly entertain the audience, I thought I was watching a comedian rather than a presidential candidate. My husband and I both sat shaking our heads in disbelief, to think that we had been duped while anticipating a program where Obama and McCain would have the same opportunity to present their positions. But we were wrong and we were angered. AND then, to add insult to injury, after the program you chose Pat Buchannan, of all people, to critique the presentations. He is about as biased against Obama as governor George Wallace was against Blacks in the 50s. There are so many more intelligent commentators to choose from, why him???? Give me a break. As far as I am concerned this program is/was just one more ploy by the Republican campaign and right wing Republicans, (Orange Co. is full of them, as you know) to let their candidate shine...one more example of how the Repubs refuse to campaign fairly and one more example of how they continue to connive and contrive to discredit Obama. But THIS VENUE was especially clever and sneaky because they chose YOU to be the facilitator. It makes me wonder just what they promised you .... money or greater fame surley something tantalizing in order to convince you to set up such a SHAM. Shame on you Pastor, certainly you of all people should know better than to be a party to an attempt of any magnitude, large, (as was the size of your TV audience) or small, to deceive the American people Don't you think the Republican administration has already done enough of that? If you don't know better than to walk in the shoes of liars and deceivers, those of your parishioners who trust in your work and word have a really big problem. Perhaps by now you have had the chance to review the broadcast and you have seen just how biased YOU allowed it to be and hopefully, you have some feelings of guilt???? BJ

I wish they would keep their faith out of politics, I for one don't need to know or care about what they do in private. The right wing has ruined this country with this injection of "faith" and "hate' since with these church folks the two go hand in hand into every election.And, funny, it was in the OC, the same place that has for the last 100 years made it a point of keeping blacks out with covenants and redlining and strong arm police tactics, and, he will not get 5% of the vote there, a total waste of time.
