DENVER -- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama will make history tonight when he speaks to 75,000 people at Invesco Field here in Denver to accept his party's nomination.
The Illinois senator made a surprise visit Wednesday night to the Democratic Convention, his first time in the Pepsi Center since the convention began.
Obama appeared with his running mate, U.S. Senator Joe Biden of Delaware, for the first time as the official Democratic nominees.
It was a day filled with drama, as the Democrats' epic 19-month battle between Obama and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton finally drew to a close. During the roll call Wednesday afternoon, Senator Clinton made a motion from the floor of the convention to suspend the rules and accept Obama's nomination by acclamation instead of reviewing the votes from all 50 states.
Senator Clinton's move was a symbolic gesture toward unity, after her name had been entered into nomination at the convention, and used to indicate that she was fully behind the Democrats' nominee for president.
The Clinton saga came to a dramatic conclusion Wednesday evening when former President Bill Clinton addressed the convention and formally announced his support for Obama. After weeks of questions about the former president's thinking about Obama, Clinton told the audience Wednesday night that Barack Obama is ready to be president and ready to lead America.
Clinton said he loved Biden and credited Barack Obama for making a wise choice in his first official decision as a presidential nominee. Then it was Biden's turn.
The Delaware senator used the moment to introduce himself to the American public, to explain his support for Obama and to attack John McCain, who he said would offer 4 more years of the same policies of President George W. Bush.
The Democrats ended the night with a surprise visit by Obama himself, who appeared on stage with his running mate immediately following Biden's speech. Obama grabbed a hand held microphone and thanked Biden, the Clintons, and his wife Michelle for their speeches during the convention and promised he would have more to say when he speaks tonight at Invesco Field in Denver.
The stakes couldn't be higher for Obama. It will be the biggest night of his campaign and, by all accounts, the most important speech of his life.

I don't care how much "cackling" and "calling out ancestors" they want to do while they do everything in their personal lives to disrespect and REJECT our ancestors out of self hatred...part of which is REJECTING this man's attempts at bringing much needed power, dignity and class to Black People EVERYWHERE.
I suppose that African-Americans would rather have a WHITE Candidate to vote for...which is what you've always supported, voted for and elected. So since you love electing white people so much--what the hell is wrong with electing a PARTIAL for a change?
And let me state...that while I (like most African people, including Obama's own family in Kenya) do not see him as "black"...I DO see him as an "African"...and I DO love him very much.
HE IS OURS!
He has chosen us and affirmed us and moved heaven and earth to uplift and demand respect and honor for us.
Do not be against Obama!
Kasha! Don't you dare be aginst Obama!
Love this man and support him. Stop acting as though he has to be perfect---no one can be perfect. I am not perfect. None of us are God. He is only a man. But he is a good beginning for us to a new path. He is a good, good child. He endeavored to bring Black babies into the world, which is more than we can say for MANY so called Black male leaders, including Obama's father.
I don't give a damn what Obama is...my love and my power is HIS. I want to see this one rule.
And for us who are the African and the Black stolen children of Africa--what alternative is there on the ticket for White House? You would support a White and not support Obama and Michelle and these precious babies? YOU NEED YOUR MOUTH SLAPPED, dumb ass!
Obama is not black...but he is black enough.
tima usrah (through fire comes the family)
SUPPORT OBAMA! Get your behind out there and VOTE!

I've always had a sense that he stands on his own, as his own person, and that may explain why he is standing where he is and many in the nation identify with him..So let's just say he's a little bit white, a little bit black, and a whole lot of man.
