Kanye West, MTV help war veterans
Staff Reporter | Posted July 25, 2008 12:15 PMKanye West and MTV are helping Iraq War veterans who have been struggling since returning home from the war. One veteran has to sell his blood every week just to pay for gasoline for his car.
The video clip below comes from a promotional segment for the documentary "Choose or Lose and Kanye West Present: Homecoming." West and MTV's Sway Calloway pay surprise visits to recently returned war veterans in the one-hour special that airs Monday, July 28, according to the AP.
"There are hundreds of veterans out there who are falling through the cracks. They make the ultimate sacrifices for us by laying down their lives, but it seems like a lot of them just get forgotten about," West told MTV. "I know my music inspires and helps a lot of people, but you can always do more. I teamed up with MTV and took the opportunity to share the spotlight with these veterans and hear their stories. I went to their homes to listen and get their firsthand experiences. I wanted to hear their stories."
Each veteran is also given a life-changing gift, including paying off their debts from paying off their debts and paying for their college tuition.
