One of our contributors sent us this link from The Dr. Phil Show. An aggressive young kid yells and screams at his mother for two minutes, tells her to shut up, and then gets up out of his seat and slaps her across the face. All of this on national television.
"I'm not a dog," the kid said. "You're not the complete boss of me! I control my body! I control what I do! And you don't have the right to hit me that hard," he says. When the mother interrupts, he says, "Shut up, let me talk." And the mother actually shuts up.
Later, she responds, "I am the boss of you. When a mother says to be quiet she's the boss of you," mom says.
And then the kid tries to defend his actions to the show. "I did lightly slap her on the cheek to show her how that feels, so I hope that made her think about what she does," the little boy says.
