Since we launched the BETA version of this site two months ago, we've been listening to your comments and suggestions and taking down notes to make the final site even better.
Based on your input, we've created a whole new design for The Daily Voice. You can see the draft mockup on the left.
The new features we've added will make the site more intuitive by creating an experience that is more visually stimulating and user friendly.
The changes will also enable us to provide you with timely, up-to-the-minute, relevant content that will position The Daily Voice as a leader in the field of news and opinion for our community.
It's not just the look that's changing. We're also adding new writers and contributors, and we will soon offer new sections to expand the site beyond the main page.
And we're finally fixing some of the bugs that you pointed out to us about the current test version. Yes, we hope to have the search engine up and running so you can search the site and not just the Internet. We'll also make it easier to comment and harder to spam. And we hope to be able to fix the typesetting problems that have caused some of the fonts to appear irregularly on the article pages.
All this will be happening within the next two weeks. But in the meantime, in order to test the new site and get it up and running, we will be going into a limited production schedule until the launch date. That means we won't have as much content and we will not be able to feature daily opinion pieces until we launch.
It has been our pleasure to offer you The Daily Voice the past two months in this trial version, and we've learned a lot from our mistakes and your input. Thanks to your help, we have a better sense of what works and what doesn't work.
Finally, as we launch the new site later this month, we project significant increases in traffic, which will expand the base of daily visitors and bring new voices into the dialogue in which many of you have been engaging since February. We know you will welcome these new members of The Daily Voice community with open arms, even when they challenge the prevailing viewpoints.
As we said from the beginning, we want to create a community of diverse minds, where all us can argue respectfully and learn from one another. That is still our goal.
Whether you support Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or John McCain, we want to hear your voice. Whether you're a college student, full-time worker or a retiree, we want you to feel welcome. No matter your religion, region, gender or sexual orientation, we think you have something to contribute to this community.
Thanks again for being a part of this exciting new community, and we look forward to bringing you more news and opinion in the days ahead.
